Travel Agent Planning Fees: The Truth No One Tells You

Here’s something many people don’t realize — travel advisors are not paid hourly. We work 100% on commission, and that commission is only paid after you travel.

That means when I spend hours researching destinations, building itineraries, and securing the best experiences for you, I’m doing it all upfront — without a paycheck. Now, that said, it’s NOT that I’m asking you to Venmo me $250 to begin planning. I do however send you an invoice and when you pay it that amount goes towards your total amount of your trip. It’s just a signal to me that you’re ready to begin the planning process.

If someone takes that carefully crafted plan and books it elsewhere, I’ve essentially provided a free service while losing the opportunity to be compensated for my time, knowledge, and expertise.

My planning fee is simply a way to protect the time, care, and insider access I invest into every trip I design. It ensures I can keep giving my clients the high-touch service, unique experiences, and stress-free travel planning they come to me for.
